Senior Housing Solicitor (at least 3 years post-qualifying experience required)

Llandudno Junction, Conwy

We require a passionate and experienced Welsh-speaking solicitor with a strong commitment to social justice to lead our legal team and our housing casework. This is a rare opportunity to significantly influence the design and delivery of an exciting new service. The post holder will form part of a small, dedicated team launching a new Law Centre in North Wales.

Summary of Main Responsibilities:

• Help us establish and grow our service to meet the needs of people living across the North Wales region.
• As Senior Solicitor, to provide direction to and supervision of all legal work carried out by the organisation.
• Have conduct of and be responsible for the delivery of advice, casework, support and representation for clients from across North Wales on housing issues.
• Work in partnership with our family solicitor to provide specialist housing advice and representation to people experiencing domestic abuse.
• Identify opportunities to achieve positive change for communities through strategic litigation.
• Work in partnership with community venues, advice agencies and other agencies to ensure the needs of local people are met and that social policy work is co-ordinated to prevent problems occurring wherever possible.
• To inform and participate in our public legal education work, to promote the Law Centre and a rights-respecting culture in North Wales.
• Must be able to meet the Legal Aid Agency supervisor standard for housing. At least three years post qualification experience of specialist Housing Law advice.

Law Centres are dynamic and exciting places to work, and setting up a new Law Centre is a challenging, exciting and ambitious project. As well as providing specialist legal advice and representation, building partnerships with local organisations in the legal and advice sectors, strengthening community knowledge about legal rights and responsibilities, and helping to create a rights-respecting culture in our region will be integral to our work.

As an organisation, we are committed to social justice and the empowerment of all. We recognise the value of diverse perspectives in our work and encourage applications from people from all backgrounds, communities, identities and experiences, including those with lived experience of the types of issues Law Centres seek to address. Let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments as part of the recruitment process.

If you’re interested in working with us but unsure about the roles advertised, would like to volunteer, or discuss the possibility of working with us in the future, we’d love to hear from you!
